Safeguarding Training

Robin and Claire are experienced training facilitators having carried out this role for the local authority for many years. As part of the Education People and then Kent County Council they delivered highly rated courses with excellent feedback. They understand that time is precious for settings so training needs to be relevant and useful to the safeguarding role.

Courses offered are Whole school training running at 2 hours for schools, colleges 18+ and early years settings. This is the basic awareness that all settings are required to do once a year as detailed in Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024. We also offer a basic awareness for childminders virtually or in person. It is possible for us to do this after hours or at weekends if need be.

Whole School Training ( 2 hours in length) can be provided for £200+ VAT for up to 30 people.

We can also offer new to role Designated Safeguarding Training and Refresher DSL Training for schools, colleges and early years settings.

The ‘New to the Role of DSL’ training seeks to support newly appointed Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputies so that they are confident in taking on this important responsibility.

The refresher course will seek to grow the confidence of DSLs and their deputies, building on their initial DSL training. Looking at the challenges of the role, the course seeks to address compliance with statutory guidance, share good practice and consider how to create a whole setting safeguarding culture.

Our courses can be tailored to your needs should you be an independent school, part of MAT or a special school. This makes the day more relevant to the day to day issues and scenarios that you experience rather than a more generic course.

On completion of the both courses, you will be able to:

  • Understand legislation including Local Safeguarding Partnerships and Safeguarding Adults Boards
  • Understand the role of the DSL
  • Develop your Policy and procedures
  • Advise on staff training
  • Understand safer recruitment
  • Recognise signs, symptoms, behavioural indicators and consequences of abuse
  • Manage the recording and referral of a disclosure
  • Know how to preserve evidence
  • Understand Local authority responsibilities and what happens after a disclosure
  • Know how to deal with allegations about staff
  • Understand, and embed multi-agency working within the Organisation.

DSL training can be offered either face to face or virtually over Teams. We are competitive in our costs and will be able to provide training at a more cost effective and bespoke form than currently on offer from our competitors.

New to the role DSL training and or DSL refresher training can be provided for each delegate at a cost of £100+ VAT with a minimum of 10 and maximum of 25 members of staff in attendance. We keep costs down by asking a school or the setting to host. Lunch is not provided but basic refreshments are.
